In 1962, the dilapidated church was closed, and a year later, there was a plan to demolish the severely run-down church. However, due to protests from local residents, that did not happen. The East Church is the result of a collaboration between architects Daniël Stalpaert and Adriaan Dortsman and features an impressive nave of 580 m² suitable for conferences, receptions, dinners, concerts, lectures, and corporate parties for up to 300 people. Thanks to modern facilities, flexible spaces created by a rail system with weaving fabric and voile, and a historical ambiance, the East Church is a versatile location for both business and cultural events in Amsterdam.
