About

De Duif in Amsterdam is a prestigious top location by the canal and offers a beautiful ambiance for, among other things, lectures, symposia, dinners, and weddings.

On the Prinsengracht, across from the idyllic Amstelveld, lies a hidden gem: De Duif. Amidst the stately residences, its unassuming exterior houses a surprisingly grand interior. Once inside, visitors are carried away by the stunning ambiance of this impressive event venue.

Prestigious and versatile
Renowned companies choose this national monument for its prestigious appearance. Among lovestruck couples, De Duif is a sought-after wedding location. The monumental setting allows concerts to shine grandly yet intimately. In short, it's a versatile location that can be booked daily for lectures, symposia, dinners, weddings, concerts, and receptions.

Flexible and professional
Of course, the church is equipped with all modern facilities required to make your event successful, such as innovative and sustainable heating and excellent audiovisual resources. When it comes to AV and catering, Stadsherstel collaborates with a number of high-quality partners.

Thanks to a movable acoustic ceiling, the building is excellent for lectures, concerts, and recitals. Furthermore, the space, with its floating wooden floor, is highly suitable for dance performances. A grand piano is available, and the Smits organ (also a national monument) can be played. For conferences and meetings, there is a plenary space and various subspaces and breakout rooms.

Choose for heritage
Due to a lack of funds and a decline in the number of churchgoers, the church gradually deteriorated during the 20th century. The last official mass was held in 1974, and since then, the building has been occupied by a group of parishioners who advocate for its preservation and restoration. The front facade was shored up for over twenty-five years as it had become detached. In 1995, the Amsterdam Monuments Fund and Stadsherstel merged to purchase and restore the building. During that restoration, various wall paintings were revealed beneath many layers of paint, making evident the work and importance of the restorers.

After an intensive restoration, De Duif reopened in 2002 with a grand cultural weekend featuring concerts, opera, jazz, dance, a precursor to what turns out to be possible. By renting De Duif, you contribute to the maintenance of this monument and to the preservation of the city.
