    About

The 17th-century Amstelkerk, once a temporary church where Napoleon reportedly housed his horse, has evolved into an atmospheric venue with magnificent acoustics. A haven of tranquility and serene beauty in the heart of the city. The central space becomes an ideal setting for lectures, symposia, dinners, receptions, and wedding ceremonies during evenings and weekends.

    Multifunctional Heritage
Since the 1990s, the central space of the church has hosted lectures, symposia, dinners, receptions, weddings, and concerts.

Amstelkerk, located near the characteristic Amstelveld, adjacent to Reguliersgracht, Kerkstraat, and Prinsengracht, stands as Stadsherstel's most multifunctional venue, featuring offices, residences, the NeL restaurant, and a permanent exhibition space.

    Facilities
Step inside Amstelkerk, and you'll be immersed in light. The white wooden walls and ceiling, the spacious nave, and the daylight streaming through tall windows from Amstelveld create a characteristic bright and airy atmosphere.

The acoustics of the space are lauded by local and international artists. The monumental restored Bätz organ can still be played.

All modern amenities, such as heating and restroom facilities, are present in this monument. We collaborate with professional partners in catering and AV services. Right opposite the entrance of Amstelkerk, you can dock your boat to add an extra memorable touch to your event.

With De Duif just a stone's throw away, you have the opportunity to combine these two monumental Stadsherstel locations. Imagine a dinner in De Duif followed by a reception in Amstelkerk.

From an elegant dinner to a lecture by the John Adams Institute, visitors are pleasantly surprised by the ambiance of this distinctive white wooden church.

    The Building
Originally built as a temporary preaching barn, Amstelkerk is now one of Amsterdam's most beautiful churches. City architect Daniël Stalpaert erected the wooden church in 1668-1670, envisioning plans for a large stone church on Amstelveld. Ultimately, the stone church never materialized, allowing us to enjoy not only the intimate 'makeshift church' but also the characteristic Amstelveld that has been preserved.

    Choose Heritage
By renting this venue, you contribute to the restoration and preservation of Amstelkerk in particular and our capital city in general. Stadsherstel acquired the building in the late 1980s when it was in very poor condition. The restoration was completed in 1990, and Stadsherstel itself occupied the office spaces. Since then, the central space has been rented for events.
