VRIJ is a unique event location: a stylishly renovated monumental building located on Landgoed Anckerwaerdt by the dike in Culemborg. VRIJ stands for hospitality, for translating your wishes. No fixed formats. It’s your day, your event, meeting, or party. You get to decide.

At VRIJ in Culemborg, you are always exclusive with your group. VRIJ is perfect for an open and relaxed gathering. Depending on the facilities you need as a trainer and trained, you can go wherever you want, even outside. A bit of team building or leadership training in the form of sheep herding is one of the options, for example. But also ‘just’ brainstorming with your feet in the grass.

Exclusively renting is not an extra option but standard. Our boardroom is naturally equipped with all modern means to ensure an efficient meeting.
The space is also very suitable for larger groups (up to 100 people theater style) or training sessions.

Before, during, or after the meeting, you can enjoy lunch, dinner, or drinks downstairs in the atmospherically furnished 'deel'.
Then stretch your legs with a short walk over the estate or the dike. Pure Dutch pictures guaranteed!

Are you with a smaller group or do you need break-out sessions? Then you can sit in the view room, which gets its name from the amazing view you have there. This space is also equipped with a pantry, presentation screen, and private restroom.

Background information
VRIJ in Culemborg is located on Landgoed Anckerwaerdt. The estate was a fruit farm without a successor until about twelve years ago. The Kroezen family has redeveloped the nine hectares into an NSW estate, with VRIJ functioning as the main building. The farm is still original although the front house was rebuilt around 1850 after it burned down at that time. It is not known when Van de Deel (the former cow barn) was built, but it is estimated to be around the mid-18th century. Characteristic and also mood-defining are the Philibert beams that have been beautifully revealed with the help of the architectural firm TANK from Amsterdam.

Green, greener..
VRIJ is not only surrounded by green, it is also very green! The existing solar panels provide solar energy for the building and the geothermal installation. The geothermal installation heats and cools the
building with – as the name suggests – geothermal heat. The organic vegetable garden largely supplies fresh vegetables, and various measures have been taken within the company to minimize environmental impact.

Think of purified table water in our ‘VRIJ bottles’, eliminating the need for transport for still and sparkling water. In the restrooms, you won’t find paper towels or hand dryers but small cotton towels that last for hundreds
of uses. VRIJ is well on its way to qualifying for a Green Key Gold certificate.
