About the space
When the iconic Chinese-Indonesian restaurant Golden River was set to be demolished from the heart of Laren, we knew immediately that this interior could not be lost. A phone call and a cup of coffee resulted in the interior not ending up in a press container, but becoming the foundation of our Golden River Museum.
We received everything. Tables, plates, chairs, art, light boxes, reviews, you name it. This was Golden River, and this is how it will remain. The Chinese-Indonesian restaurant has now been declared Dutch heritage and is cherished at De Groene Afslag.
As is fitting for a Chinese-Indonesian restaurant, this space is a great place for larger groups in an informal setting. The space has its own little bar, making it convenient for drinks or a buffet.
