About
The Jan Krol Foyer, also known as the Toren Foyer, is located in the tower on the top floor. This intimate foyer by the second balcony has a beautiful portrait gallery by photographer Fjodor Buis featuring special portraits of well-known actors, actresses, and directors from Haarlem.
Portrait Gallery of Famous Haarlem Icons
The Haarlem photographer Fjodor Buijs has created a photo series of a collection of people who color Haarlem with their acting, directing, or dance performances. The selection was made on the stage of the Stadsschouwburg. In the stage lights that usually illuminate them, they are now posing for a camera in a cloud of red that separates them from the background. Visitors can now gain a completely new, theatrical perspective on the Haarlem theater world. You can see the portraits in the photos at the bottom of this page.
Capacity and Area
The intimate Jan Krol Foyer is adjacent to the second balcony and, like the two floors below, has a public circulation around the theater hall. There is a small bar, which is only used for private gatherings (up to about 80 people). The foyer, and especially the round tower, is suitable as a small, informal breakout space (15 people) or even as a space for a sub-session; in that case, we can place 38 chairs in theater arrangement or 18 chairs at one long table.
