About the space

This linen room was previously used for mangling, ironing, and storing linen.

In this room, the Xylotheque of Castle Groeneveld is on display. This Xylotheque from Schlümbach is a special collection of wood in book form from 1790.

King Louis Napoleon – the brother of Napoleon Bonaparte – gifted a Xylotheque to the universities of Leiden, Franeker, and Harderwijk between 1809 and 1811.

The collection of tree books displayed here is the Xylotheque of the University of Leiden and consists of 147 parts.

This space is ideal for a breakout session or a meeting.

The room is quietly located at the back of the building in the basement.
