We offer an impressive reception area, a grand theater with 453 seats, and multiple rooms suitable for both small and large gatherings. And it all comes with an international vibe, the elegance of Amsterdam's Golden Age, and state-of-the-art facilities. As lovers of diversity, we open our doors to symposia, congresses, conferences, meetings, events, and parties. Whether you seek a classic ambiance or desire a modern atmosphere – it's all within reach. Welcome your guests in the Marmeren Hall, inspire in the Queen Máxima Room, host a barbecue in the enchanting courtyard, or book the entire venue exclusively for up to 900 guests. Whatever your vision, at our place, every speaker – and guest – naturally finds inspiration. In addition to the conference facilities, KIT also features the splendid café "De Tropen." During the summer, the expansive terrace and the enchanting courtyard are the perfect spots for organizing events, dinners, and barbecues.
Moreover, the Amsterdam Tropen Hotel, on the other side of our lush courtyard, is part of the Royal Tropical Institute. It's convenient and comfortable if you wish to stay after an event or meeting. At the moment, the hotel is closed for renovation until at least 2023.

Our proceeds support KIT's knowledge projects, aimed at a sustainable global future.
SDG HOUSE: A COMMUNITY OF SUSTAINABLE ORGANIZATIONS Furthermore, we are housed in the SDG House: a community of organizations, entrepreneurs, scientists, and NGOs dedicated to working towards the Sustainable Development Goals. If you're looking for a speaker, a sparring partner, or other substantive contributions, we're happy to connect you with relevant parties within the SDG House. This way, we provide you with a top-notch service that prioritizes your needs.
CATERING The sustainability we're so proud of extends to our kitchen. We utilize seasonal produce from local, sustainable suppliers. Executive Chef Hans Ribbens is a culinary maestro and, of course, can accommodate specific dietary requirements and preferences – whether they are organic, vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free. In short: good taste, good vibes.

Een indrukwekkend plafond, een historische muurschildering en state-of-the-art techniek. De Koningin Máxima Zaal is perfect voor plenaire sessies, kennisoverdracht en congressen. Dit fraaie auditorium met vaste theateropstelling van in totaal 453 stoelen zorgt voor maximale aandacht voor uw sprekers – zowel in de zaal als op het balkon.

Of u deze zaal nu kiest voor een seminar of vergadering – het typisch Amsterdamse uitzicht op de gracht krijgt u er standaard bij. Met de authentieke lambrisering, originele visgraatvloer en het hoge houten plafond, is deze ruimte de perfecte omlijsting voor elk succesvol evenement. Deze ruimte ligt aan een aparte gang die in verbinding staat met de Marmeren Hal.

De grandeur van onze congreslocatie is nergens zo voelbaar als in de Marmeren Hal. De hal – de entree van het gebouw – ligt centraal ten opzichte van alle overige zalen en vormt een stijlvolle omgeving voor diners, recepties en breaks. In de hal zijn twaalf bijzondere marmersoorten verwerkt uit Toscane, Italië. Zowel de vloer, de pilaren als de trappen zijn ermee bekleed. De groene marmersoort, vert polververa, is schaars en wordt alleen nog gedolven en toegepast voor restauratiedoeleinden.

Marmeren Hal

In de Raadzaal heeft u symbolisch gezelschap. De schouw is versierd met de fundamenten van het KIT: Ganesha voor volkenkunde, Hermes voor handel en engeltjes voor hygiëne. Onder hun toeziend oog is het fijn borrelen, geïnspireerd vergaderen en smaakvol dineren. Ook heeft de Raadzaal uitzicht op de binnentuin van het gebouw. De zaal is eenvoudig te koppelen met de Bestuurskamer en de Regentenkamer. Deze ruimtes vormen samen onze eigen Amsterdamse Downing Street.

Waar vroeger het bestuur zetelde, kunnen nu uw gasten plaatsnemen. Groene wandkleden en een beschilderd houten plafond vormen het inspirerende decor. Een fijne setting voor een intensieve meeting, een exclusief diner of een gezellige receptie. Deze prachtige kamer heeft uitzicht op de binnentuin en is eenvoudig te koppelen met de Raadzaal en de Regentenkamer. Deze ruimtes vormen samen onze eigen Amsterdamse Downing Street.

De Regentenkamer is de kleinste van de drie zalen aan onze eigen Amsterdamse Downing Street. Deze intieme ruimte met hoog ornamentenplafond is ideaal voor een meer knusse bijeenkomst – zowel zakelijk als privé. De regenten van weleer waren er vast graag bij geweest. De zaal is eenvoudig te koppelen met de Raadzaal en de Bestuurskamer.

In het Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen hebben we onze eigen Amsterdamse Downing Street. De Raadzaal, Bestuurskamer en Regentenkamer waren vroeger het domein van de hoge heren, tegenwoordig worden de drie door tussendeuren verbonden zalen afzonderlijk of samen verhuurd. Een passende locatie voor een exclusief diner of borrel op niveau.

Downingstreet (3 zalen)

Het Koningshuis en het Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen zijn nauw met elkaar verbonden. Deze mooie lichte ruimte met als basiskleuren blauw en grijs, is vernoemd naar Koningin Emma. De luchtige sfeer en flexibele indeling maken het tot een fijne omgeving voor vergaderingen, presentaties en workshops.

In de Clauszaal worden handgeweven wanddecoraties gecombineerd met lichte tinten en hout. Het is de derde van onze Koningszalen en een royale ruimte die zich perfect leent voor kleinere bijeenkomsten. Het is de uitgelezen locatie voor boardmeetings, productintroducties en intieme vergaderingen.

Aan de andere kant van het gebouw vindt ons dag cafe, cafe de Tropen. Het is mogelijk om dit restaurant exclusief af te huren buiten de openingstijden om. Het restaurant is ontworpen door Piet Boon en heeft een moderne uitstraling wat wordt gecombineerd met monumentale details.
