About the space
The former Remonstrant church is grand yet intimate
This former church from the seventeenth century is the largest of its kind in the Netherlands. A unique location with wooden pillars, authentic woodwork, and two balconies. A former priest discovered in 1989 that the building was vacant and changed its function to a meeting place for discussions on social issues. This hall is named after the co-founder of the Rode Hoed, Huub Oosterhuis, the father of Trijntje Oosterhuis. The space is known for political debates and TV recordings of Sonja Barend and Collegetour.
The Oosterhuiszaal is extremely suitable for ceremonies, dinners, congresses, performances, and parties. The hall has two floors and features unique and original elements, such as the organ, which can still be played. Additionally, the pillars, the pulpit, the windows, the ceiling, and the floor are still largely in their original state. The hall is versatile and many setups are possible. The space can be completely darkened, the acoustics are particularly good, and our regular technicians are included in the price. In other words, the Oosterhuiszaal is a beautiful, spacious hall with visible history.
