About
The former Remonstrant hidden church is grand yet intimate.
This former hidden church from the seventeenth century is the largest of its kind in the Netherlands. A unique location with wooden pillars, authentic woodwork, and two balconies. A former priest discovered in 1989 that the building was empty and transformed its function into a meeting place for discussions on societal issues. This hall is named after the co-founder of the Rode Hoed, Huub Oosterhuis, the father of Trijntje Oosterhuis. The space is well-known for political debates and TV recordings of Sonja Barend and Collegetour.
The Oosterhuiszaal is extremely suitable for ceremonies, dinners, conferences, performances, and parties. The hall has two floors and features unique and original elements, such as the organ which can still be played. Additionally, the pillars, pulpit, windows, ceiling, and floor are still largely in their original state. The hall is flexible in use and offers various seating arrangements. The space can be fully darkened, the acoustics are exceptionally good, and our resident technicians are included in the price. In other words, the Oosterhuiszaal is a beautiful, spacious hall with visible history.
