About
In this wonderfully colorful hall, physical experiments were once conducted. The audience stood on the balcony around the hall to watch. Among other things, the famous fall test was carried out here, by making a hole in the ceiling and letting an object fall through it. This was an attempt to measure gravity. So it may not surprise you that the Department of Physics used to be housed here. But what is the Shaffyzaal named after? This has to do with the memorable performances of the famous singer Ramses Shaffy, in collaboration with Liesbeth List and Freek de Jonge.
The Shaffyzaal is extremely suitable for performances, creative break-outs, parties, receptions, and dinners. With windows all around the hall, a lot of daylight comes in, but these can also be completely darkened for a performance or party. Unique is the own reception area with a bar that has been created in the hall with a large wall. There are also many expansion possibilities due to the balcony and the extra space behind it. The design, which has emerged from the creative Shaffy period, as well as the technology and acoustics, are completely contemporary and very innovative.
